Very soon Bullying Stinkz is holding it’s first GR8 AS U R celebration in Norwich. The evening will be about showcasing the fabulous work created by all the amazing children involved. Together these children have recorded a song about celebrating difference as well as acted in a film called “My Name Is Allen”, which highlights the devastating effects of bullying. They were incredibly brave to help us with these projects and this evening is a way of not only celebrating how fantastic they are but also thanking them for their courage in helping us spread our “celebrate difference, stop bullying before it starts” message.
The event will be full of film, music and fun and our wonderful film crew from New Thirty Pictures will also be there to say hello and capture the whole event, so please come along and join in the fun, we’d love to see you.
Thank you for helping us celebrate difference and stop bullying before it starts.
The team here at Bullying Stinkz were very excited this morning to learn that the Bishop of Norwich, Right Reverend Graham James was speaking on Radio 4’s ‘Thought Of the Day’ programme about bullying.
Why were we excited? Because we knew he was going to mention Bullying Stinkz, although he couldn’t say the name directly. He came to the film shoot we had at Parkside school last week (thank you Parkside!) and not only did he give us a fantastic interview, which will be shown soon, but he also spoke to all the children and congratulated them all for their bravery. It was certainly a day to remember!
Listen to what he said here:
Some exciting things have been happening recently. Firstly, Jacqui and Ellie did a radio broadcast on Radio Norfolk. You can listen to that here.
Then they appeared, soon after, on BBC Look East talking about the new program launch in September. You can watch that here.

An innovative campaign to stop bullying before it starts has been praised in Parliament.
Bullying Stinkz was set by Norwich mum Jacqueline Hitchcock-Wyatt and daughter Ellie, who was bullied at a series of schools around the city.
The campaign, which has backing from the likes of Eamonn Holmes and Gabby Logan, aims to create a series of books for children aged one to seven to teach them to accept and celebrate diversity.
Norwich South MP Simon Wright highlighted the campaign in a Commons debate on cyber-bullying on Tuesday.
He told MPs: “The best way to deal with any form of bullying is to stop it before it starts. Bullying Stinkz, which is a new anti-bullying campaign set up by my constituents Jacqueline Hitchcock-Wyatt and her daughter Ellie, aims to do just that.
Andrew Sherwood HR Director at Bernard Matthews:
“The Bernard Matthews Young Person of the Year Award is a very special award and an additional prize for a young person, or group of young people, who have triumphed over adversity to shine and inspire us all. Despite extremely challenging personal circumstances this remarkable young person has turned around a negative situation to become a shining example to us all about how facing a challenge head on can result in an inspirational outcome. The Bernard Matthews Young Person of the Year is courageous, motivational and is having such a positive impact on her own peers and the next generation to come. All congratulations to Ellie Bea Hitchcock Wyatt, the Bernard Matthews Young Person of the Year 2013.”

“Ellie Bea Hitchcock-Wyatt, 16, right, from Norwich, was crowned the Bernard Matthews Young Person of the Year after also winning the education category for co-founding anti-bullying social enterprise Bullying Stinkz which teaches young people about equality and the importance of celebrating differences and including others. Ellie Bea co-founded Bullying Stinkz with her mum Jacqueline after she was bullied for eight years, and as part of Bullying Stinkz they have created a series of books and been working on an educational empowerment programme. Ellie Bea has also written songs including ‘GR8 AS U R (and Bullying Stinkz)’ to inspire children.
About receiving the two awards, she said: “It’s amazing to have won. I am really thrilled, and I really hope that getting the GR8 AS U R message across will really help people.”
Also shortlisted for education:
Tom Ewing, 17, from Trowse, for academic excellence and designing Wymondham College Magazine.
Friendly Faces, a peer support group at Aylsham High, for work to prevent bullying.
Ellie Bea Hitchcock-Wyatt, 16, launched Bullying Stinkz with her mother, Jacqueline, after turning to the American comedy series Ugly Betty for inspiration after being bullied at a series of schools.
The campaign has received celebrity backing from Eamonn Holmes, Gabby Logan and Ugly Betty actor Michael Urie, and aims to teach young people about equality and the importance of celebrating differences and including others.
Ellie Bea has written a pop song GR8 AS U R to help get the message across, and was joined by Canadian comedian Tanyalee Davis when filming of the pop video got under way at Parkside School in Norwich yesterday morning.
Ellie Bea said: “Tanyalee is the first of a number of stars who have agreed to be part of the GR8 AS U R recording. I am not allowed to say who the others are yet – all I can say is watch this space.”
Bullying Stinkz will be filming GR8 AS U R in different schools around the UK and abroad, and plans to finish with in a big film shoot back in Norwich where everyone will be invited to take part – including some of the celebrities involved in the project.
Barry Payne, head of Parkside School, said: “All the children are really excited about being the first to sing this song and being part of a real pop video. It’s a great way of getting the message across that we all come in different shapes and sizes and what matters most is accepting who you are and making the most of it, whilst allowing others to do the same.”
Ellie Bea has been shortlisted for a Bernard Matthews Youth Award for co-founding the social enterprise with her mother.
